Digital Identity as the Future Cornerstone of Digital Trust and Security

Date: 5. May 2025, 16.15 - 19.00 (followed by Apero)

Location: ETH Zurich, Main Building, Room F 5

Registration: Use this link

About: Digital identity is increasingly becoming the cornerstone of digital trust and security in our increasingly complex world. This workshop explores the critical role of digital identities in shaping the future of technology, looking at two key paradigms.  First, it will show how decentralized digital identity solutions, including advances in electronic identification (E-ID), give users more privacy and control over their personal data, which is critical for secure interactions in decentralized environments. Second, it discusses how digital identities are becoming the new security parameter in enterprise centralized environments, enabling robust access control, authentication and authorization mechanisms. Although the boundaries between these two paradigms are very fluid in reality, the contribution emphasizes the importance of digital identity for the technologies of the coming years.

Past Panel on "DAOs - Rethinking Decentralized Power"

Event Details:

- Date: 21. November 2023

- Time: 17.15 - 20.00

- Location: ETH Zurich, LEE building, E 101, Leonhardstrasse 21, 8092 Zurich

With the growing number of DeFi projects, the number of Decentralized Autonomous Organisations (DAOs) – virtual organisations built and run on code and blockchain technology – is also growing. The new corporate structure of DAOs offers benefits appropriate for the era of digitalisation and decentralisation. However, as most countries around the globe do not yet have in place a specific legal regime for DAOs, how DAOs are to be understood and categorised is a matter for speculation.

In this workshop we will elaborate on the concept of DAO, share insights on current DAOs and discuss the future challenges around legal aspects.

This event is public and free of charge, please use the link for registration below.
