Academic Lead & Lecturers

Prof. Dr. Patrick Cheridito, Professor of Mathematics, ETH Zürich
Academic Director

Patrick Cheridito’s research interests lie in the analysis and application of stochastic models as well as machine learning methods for finance and insurance.

Prof. Dr. Josef Teichmann, Professor of Mathematics, ETH Zürich
Academic Director

In recent work Josef Teichmann and his co-authors develop machine learning tools for the financial industry. Further projects include deep calibration, deep simulation, and deep prediction. Theoretical foundations from approximation theory and stochastic analysis accompany successful concrete implementations to make such approaches eligible for industry applications.

Dr. Bastian Bergmann, Executive Director, FinsureTech Hub
Programme Lead & Lecturer

Bastian is responisble for the CAS Programme and the Hub with a focus on education initiatives and outreach of the Hub. He is lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and leads Block II and Block III of the CAS.

Dr. Andrea Ferrario, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine, University of Zurich

Andrea's research focuses on epistemological and ethical issues of AI in healthcare, and the use of machine learning in affective computing and cognitive sciences. In the the CAS, he teaches statistical learning frameworks and various machine learning methods, including deep learning, and covers “AI ethics,” providing methods and examples of how to develop responsible AI systems that enhance explainability and foster trust in AI.
